Anja Nissen and Dr Karen Phillip interviewIt would be easy to look at The Voice Australia season 3 winner, Anja Nissen, and think her life must be perfect. But you’d be wrong.

Like the rest of us, Anja has to navigate relationships, her career and other life challenges, and she opens up about her experiences in a frank new conversation with relationship expert, Dr Karen Phillip

This is not your typical scripted or clichéd interview, but a refreshingly honest and unique discussion about how one talented young woman has found love and maintained her sense of self amid the wild forces of fame and reality TV.

Under the expert guidance of leading counsellor and psychotherapist Dr Karen, Anja covers everything from the qualities she’s drawn to in a partner, to finding balance and being a role model to other young women.

“What my conversation with Anja revealed is that no matter what your career path, we all face the same fundamental challenges when it comes to finding love  and maintaining our sense of self,” says Dr Karen.

“This is a young woman who has the world at her feet – she’s recently returned from Denmark where she was working her guts out to try and break into Eurovision, and now she’s about to head to the USA to forge a new path in her singing career on the international stage.

“Anja and I spoke about issues I hear from couples every day in counselling sessions, like finding a partner who understands and supports you, and reaching agreement on important issues like whether to have children.

“I fee like i have said everything, i have been so honest today almost to honest”, Anja Nissen

“If anything, being in the spotlight makes these issues that much harder, but Anja shows a maturity way beyond her 20 years. She may not have all the answers, but I think her grounded-ness will keep her in good stead in the years ahead.

“I’m really grateful to Anja for being so willing to share her experiences in this interview.”

Dubbed Australia’s Lifestyle Doctor, Dr Karen Phillip is a regular on Channel 9’s TODAY show and MORNINGS. She recently released her second book, ‘OMG We’re Getting Married: 7 essential things to know before we say I do’.
